David Barrett

David serves as the chief executive officer of the American Society of Gene and Cell Therapy, the primary membership organization for scientists, physicians, professionals, and patient advocates involved in gene and cell therapy. ASGCT’s mission is to advance knowledge, awareness, and education leading to discovery and clinical application of gene and cell therapies to alleviate disease.

David is an experienced executive and attorney with a proven track record of leading and growing non-profit organizations, specifically medical and scientific membership associations. Extensive experience navigating and providing counsel related to complex regulatory environments including drug, biologic, and device approvals; Medicare reimbursement for physician services; physician and ancillary health care licensure; as well as graduate medical and higher education compliance. Deep understanding of standard-setting, accreditation, and certification within several fields including healthcare, medical specialty, and higher education.
