Dr. Yara Park is a Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of North Carolina where she serves as the medical director of the Transfusion Medicine Service and the Hematopoietic Progenitor Cell Laboratory and the Pathology Residency Program Director. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina, followed by medical school and pathology residency at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. She returned to UNC to complete her Transfusion Medicine fellowship and then stayed on as faculty.
Dr. Park is active in many professional organizations and is currently the President of the American Society for Apheresis (ASFA). Her research focuses primarily on therapeutic apheresis, specifically thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura.
